CoQA

Co-innovation for Quality in African Food Chains

An interdisciplinary research and capacity building programme to improve quality in agrifood chains in Benin, Ethiopia and South Africa

Quality is becoming an increasingly important issue in the marketing of food products. Low quality leads to a loss of sales opportunities but also to efficiency losses throughout the supply chain. Improving quality in production and processing and reducing quality degradation is not just a matter of new techniques or better prices. Efficient and sustainable quality improvements can only be obtained when innovations in product and process, in the organisation of the supply chain, and in the support of markets and institutions are combined.

The CoQA programme will study these integrated quality solutions in different supply chains: pineapple, citrus/deciduous fruit and potato.
